Corner Series , 2020-2022
In 2020 at hight of pandemic, daily sculptural meditations were created using latex paper, textile, wool, yarn balloons, found domestic materials. In this process pain visualization theories and pain management strategies were used. Physical pain brought into an external manifestation as refection of societal internalizations. Corner Series sculptures were a way to mark, document -Stuck within the confines of home, the home became the body that protected me. Processing traumatic events through the manipulation, abstraction and staging a photograph became a capsule of these moments. The photo is presented through digital platforms. Losing interaction with others the materials become stand-ins and surrogates. Documenting this time and the autobiographical nature of my work. The work is restricted in it's presentation to conform to the confines of home, quarantine where a corner space becomes a meeting point, a connection of this interiority and brings the private into public space.
